Sail Date: May 2022

This was our first cruise since the fall of 2019. For a variety of reasons we chose Alaska as our first post-Covid cruise destination. Discovery Princess is a brand new ship and we thought it would be fun to be among the first passengers to cruise on a new ship. That piece of it was okay, but we probably won't seek out that experience again. Anyway, the post covid landscape provides a unique opportunity for cruise lines to reset their brands and win new customers. In this regard Princess didn’t really wow us, and though everyone in our party of four remarked they would consider Princess again, none of us would necessarily choose Princess ahead of another cruise line based on the last 7 days. On to the review:

Pre-Cruise, Medallion Class App and Embarkation:

Princess has bet a lot on this Medallion app and the medallion thingy everyone wears around their necks. I don’t want to make this review totally about the Medallion Class app but it really is important to the whole new Princess experience.
