Our first river cruise, and it was a wonderful change from ocean cruising. Knowing that we would not be getting the ocean vessel experience we were accustomed to, we were looking forward to seeing what small vessel river cruising was like, and it turned out to be wonderful. Attention to detail, personal attention, and superb food made this a rich experience. You get most of this on an ocean vessel, but not to the same level of attention, from personal attention for whatever you can dream of wanting to the plating of delectable cuisine. Our cruise director and our table staff had our names pegged the first day. Our daily wants, we had no needs, were handled in a professional, courteous, helpful, and sometimes humorous interaction. Entertainment was not the Las Vegas how style of ocean vessels, but we had high quality music in the lounge appropriate for vessel with a maximum of 146 passengers, which we enjoyed very much.
Our stateroom, while not as large as some ocean vessels, was large enough, had generous closet space, multiple shower head options, water replenished as we consumed it, multiple electrical outlets for easy charging of phones and cameras, plus robes and slippers. The French balcony was a delightful way to watch the countryside go by, actually more useful than a balcony.
