Our family of 6 chose the Crown Princess because it was sailing to Glacier Bay National Park. This was my 40th cruise and I have been on several cruises with Princess. I also love planning and had us scheduled for a private Whale Watching tour in Juneau and a Glacier Flight in Skagway. Half of our group would be visiting Alaska for the first time. Then prior to the trip we receive notice of the ship's engine issues and altered itinerary cancelling Ketchikan for Icy Straight Point and a $100 pp OBC. We researched ISP and were ready to roll with the changes.

Our non-stop Delta flight the day of embarkation was on time and the Premier Shuttle service to the terminal was excellent. We arrived an hour before our 11am check in time and waited in line with only about 20 people ahead of us. A porter came by and collected our bags and we entered to terminal at 11am. As we entered our group, and many others were directed past the check in station and into another area that turned out to be where you could drop bags which all of us had already checked. So, we all looped around and now had a hundred people ahead of us to check in. Oh well, roll with it and onward through security, and check in and medallion pick up. Then onto the ship to explore and eat some lunch. As we enter the ship the Officers and crew greeted us with cheers!

For all the issues with the ship we all had a wonderful time. Everyone in our group said we were lucky with great weather; beautiful scenery and we all enjoyed the onboard naturalist and rangers! Choosing our attitude was certainly a challenge though! I had to contact our guide in Juneau to cancel our whale watching trip. He was very kind and gave a full refund, but we were sad since he arranged a private tour for the price of the large ship tours! I also changed our time for the Glacier Flight three times! It was a highlight of the trip and if you ever have the chance to fly over the glaciers in an airplane it is BEAUTIFUL! We changed back to Ketchikan and cancelled ISP so our group walked the town and shopped at Creek Street. A lovely town and fun day!

Cabin Review

Our steward was great! Huge balcony on deck 10 was excellent for viewing nature! Just unfortunate about the sewer issues!

Port Reviews

Glacier Bay

We chose Crown Princess for Glacier Bay. Very few ships get the privilege to sail Glacier Bay NP. Princess should have switched ships and provided a fully functional ship for this itinerary. I am sure it will cost them a large amount of future bookings!
