We were on from Ushuaia to Milwaukee, 9 March to 7 May 2022. There were several shortfalls in the usual high-level of service and excursions that Viking is known for. We have been provided with Future Cruise Credits and are very appreciative, but I wanted to take the time to provide specific feedback for your consideration.
Kayhan , Restaurant Manager, is a true gem!!! Any shortfalls during the trip were always made up by outstanding service, warm smile, and interesting stories. Our dinner at the Chef’s Table, in the kitchen, arranged by Kayhan and co-hosted by Chef Martin Kitzing was an event we will remember. The only thing that could possibly exceed it was the “Happy Birthday” video Kayhan orchestrated for my wife’s special day. The Restaurant manager on Neptune, our next Viking trip, will be hard pressed to top Kayhan’s skills, charm, and initiatives.
Marc and his assistant Isabella saved the day when they became aware of Viking’s inability to provide expedition/excursion information to in-transit passengers. Without their knowledge and good humor, we would have grave doubts about sailing with Viking again. Marc’s suggestions were right-on for all but one event. The Soufriere Tet Paul Nature Trail was anything but moderate.
When we finalized arrangements we had suite on deck 4 until reaching New York. We moved down to an N1 on deck 2. The reduction in space and storage was noticeable. Not a big fan of the Nordic Balcony and its roll down window. The squeak even on moderate seas.
