We chose this cruise for the itinerary. My husband wanted warm weather and was very interested in seeing the old locks of the Panama Canal. While we enjoyed the smaller size of the Island princess because nothing was ever very far we really missed the international cafe on other ships where you could sit in piazza and relax, The on board entertainment was very good and the crew while this was the island Princess first cruise out since the pandemic was helpful and wonderful. Few small glitches handled wonderfully . I am not a fan of the Bayou cafe to me it just doesn’t compare to Crown grill. But the rest of our party enjoyed it.
As for the ports Nicaragua was sadly removed ,
Costa Rica was beautiful and the sloth sanctuary was worth the trip. Skip the excursions in Huatulco as the best of that we took was truly awful instead spend the day on the beach at restaurant on the bay sipping margaritas. Cartagena the walled city was very interesting and worth the trip but be prepared for many street vendors.
Cabin was nice since this is an older ship it has some nice wood archways from bedroom to bathroom closet area. It also felt like the balcony was a little bigger than on the royal class ship.
The walled city was very interesting and worth a trip. Our tour guide Roy was terrific Be prepared for many many street vendors and people asking for money . We also saw the fortress and while we didn’t do the hike it was amazing
While the view was beautiful as we approached the bay the Best of Huatulco tour was the worst I have ever been on. Basically the bus drove around and showed us the gates to hotels , an agave plant yep one plant on a hill. And a church where the tour guide disappeared! I recommend the lovely restaurant to the left of the pier right On the beach. Skip the tour hit the restaurant sip margaritas with toes in the water.
Costa Rica was amazing! We rode an aerial team over the rain forest and visited the sloth sanctuary both were great stops and I highly recommend . We had the most amazing knowledgeable tour guide on our tour we learned so much of the history and culture of Costa Rica it made us love the country and want to go back
