We chose the Rhine for the opportunity to see the castles of the middle Rhine gorge and the Lorelei, and it did not disappoint. That was among the best scenic cruising days I've ever experienced.
The ship is spotless and feels new. Many new crew members in the dining room, so service was a bit slow and uneven, but this is to be expected as rosters are rebuilt. Food ranged from spectacular (grill on the sky deck, German feast for lunch one day when most passengers were ashore for all day excursion) to just good but not great. Due to the many waiters in training we often chose to relieve the pressure on the dining room at dinner and enjoy the bistro supper in the lounge where the bar staff were excellent and we could help ourselves to smaller portions and try a little of this and a little of that. It all worked out and I'm sure will be back to top notch service levels with time.
Likewise, shore excursions didn't always match the online descriptions, but there was a lot of flexibility for switching excursions or simply not going (a half day excursion turns out to be a full day with 2 hours spent on buses, for example). One optional excursion in Amsterdam that we had prepaid (Floriade 2022) had apparently not been communicated to the ship's CD. We were originally told it was cancelled but after some discussion, the CD found a way to make it happen for our group.
