Overall we had a wonderful trip on board Ambience visiting the Norwegian Fjords. This was only the second sailing for the ship so we were apprehensive arriving but had a lovely time.

We embarked the ship very easily and our cabin was available straight away which was a lovely surprise. We travelled by train to the terminal and there was a free shuttle bus which dropped us off at the terminal making things very easy.

The food is outstanding, and we didn't have a bad meal. Both the food from the MDR and buffet was lovely, and there is also a pool grill open 12pm - 6pm that serves fries and burger which is handy. Afternoon tea was served daily, with lovely fresh scones. All the staff are lovely and friendly and cannot do enough for you. Likewise every guest we met was lovely, and anyone travelling alone will be sure to make new friends almost immediately. Drinks are very reasonable and I believe most people will be better off buying drinks as they go rather than purchasing a drinks package. Tea and coffee is available in all cabins, and the buffet serves tea, peppermint tea, fruit tea, coffee and water 24/7.

Cabin Review

Lovely and spacious room with two very comfortable beds which can be made up to a double, a sofa and two chairs with accompanying coffee table, TV which didn't work, and a large dressing area. Lots of storage but dated bathrooms in need of a refurb.

Port Reviews

Eidfjord

Beautiful port which you can access directly from the ship. Take the troll train by buying tickets in the tourist information. You only need a few hours to view everything here, but the scenery is beautiful.

Bergen

Beautiful place with lots to do. The tourist information has a ream of information on things to do, including the funicular which is very easy to access. Bryggen is great to explore and shop, and lots of lovely places for a cup of hot chocolate and cinnamon bun! Slight walk from the ship but only about 10-15 minutes.

Flam

Beautiful scenery but I would argue only half a day is needed here as there is limited things to do. We opted to take the Stegastein viewpoint tour from Norway's Best which I would recommend to anyone. Flam railway also very good. Would be very concerned how busy this place gets in the summer as it's tiny!
