Having taken over 42 cruises and gap of 2 years we took Rotterdam cruise for 14 days expecting Holland America cruise lines standards. But we were wrong. HAL has major cutdowns in guest services, entertainments and meals options and selections. Main dining room dishes are repeated . On a 14 day cruise it was the same food. No more souvenir glasses with shot drinks, no more lobster in main dinings. A lot of dishes with up charges.
More importance is given to speciality dining restaurants and main dinings and lido decks dining is like a 3 star resort now not a cruise ship.No more theme nights meals and celebrations.
Staff is excellent excellent. Very welcoming and helpful. Bar areas staff very friendly. Officers have no interaction with the guest. Very cold. A very big pull back from HAL traditional guest service.
Cabin Review
We were in Excellent Cabo. Excellent cabin steward. A lot of storage. Nice bathroom. Soap, conditioner, shampoo and lotion.
Safe, mini fridge , table and two chairs in balcony, love seat/sofa. Very comfortable beds.
