We initially wanted to do the Greek Isles on our own. After researching the limited ferry schedule, this cruise itinerary was a far better alternative. We have travelled on Norwegian several times, first time on Jade.
Covid protocols are a hassle. We are fully vaccinated with a booster. We did the test before left and the results were negative. We arrived on an overnight flight. We decided to use ncl airport transfer. Another hassle. We had to wait for some other passengers before the bus left. Instead of going to the pier, we were taken to a hotel lobby, to get a test prior to embarkation. The process was slow, but we tested negative. We got on another bus to the pier. We waited for the ‘normal’ check in to show a credit card, photo, etc. we got on the ship. Time to have fun. Sadly the port of Athens does not allow the pouring of alcoholic drinks. One has to get wait to get to the ‘high seas’. We did and a MaiTai tasted great.
The ship was clean and they enforced wearing a mask indoors except to eat or drink. They emphasized before eating in the buffet to wash your hands and escorted you to the sink.
Cabin Review
We had balcony room . The hallway gave a feeling of a beach the way the hallway door designed. Nice size balcony, the room size was average. To give a feeling of more space, they removed a chair and desk. In its place is a smaller counter, a smart idea. I used to stub my toe on the chair. The bathroom was standard. I was annoyed at times when Newman the cabin steward wanted to service the room. I don’t if they are pressured to clean the room, there were a few times we wanted to relax and not to think about the room being made. These times I thought having the do not disturb the service would be skipped. Overall he was nice and did a very good job.

Istanbul
Did an all day from NCL, with Covid seemed the easiest to do. Remember to take proof of vaccination card on tour, we were asked, but could have been. Went to blue mosque, had lunch, grand bazaar and small walking tour. Went to a mosque in Asia side of instantly, not worth seeing only because of traffic.
Rhodes
Did a walking tour from NCL of the walled city, very attractive. Some of the best pricing on souvenirs in this area.
