We chose the Rhine cruise because we had holidayed on the Emerald Sky previously, both like Germany and we had very good feedback from friends who had holidayed on the Rhine cruise a few years ago. We were not disappointed. The ship was very good, the staff truly amazing and the food and wine excellent.

The itinerary was varied and included a variety of walking tours, coach tours in fabulous scenery and city stops. Without exception the tour guides were knowledgeable about their area and made the tour enjoyable with interesting anecdotes and personal stories about their families. This was particularly relevant whilst we toured the Alsace with the impact history had upon the language, nationality and experiences of the local population. Our favourite destinations were the Black Forest, Strasbourg and Heidelberg but it was all very good. During the tours there was an element of grouping guests by their appetite for exploring, where possible, which helped groups to pace themselves.

We like Emerald because the atmosphere onboard is relaxed and informal, encouraging guests to mingle and get to know each other without sacrificing the various post-Covid precautions still in place. The dress code was informal making packing easier!

Cabin Review

Stateroom cabins are fine - there is plenty of storage and natural daylight. We take the view that we spend very little time in the cabin so why not spend the money on the holiday.
