We wanted to see a very unique part of the World and we knew from past experience that if we traveled with Viking that we would have the best possible experience! Viking ensures that both the "on-ship" and "off-ship" experience is fun, rewarding and educational. Not only do you get to "see" everything, but even more important is that you gain an understanding and appreciation for what you are experiencing. Viking ensures this understanding is achieved through its amazing staff. This was especially important on this Antarctic Cruise as it is such a unique area in so many ways and as it is generally a "one-time" experience: You get one shot at it. The "expedition" personnel were amazing. From ensuring that everyone got in and out of the Zodiacs safely to seeing all possible forms of life, they could not have been any better. The "science" personnel were eager to share their work, knowledge and were fun to interact with. The entire Octantis Personnel, from the Captain to the Chef in Manfredi's Restaurant, were far and away above anything we have ever encountered, except on every other Viking Ship we have been on. Viking's personnel are at the core of my belief that they are the Best Cruise Company!
