Found this cruise for a fantastic rate, brand new ship, why not give it a try? First booked a Deluxe Balcony, then a Vista Suite, and finally a Penthouse Suite next to the Concierge Lounge. Now not sure I can go back to a regular cabin.
Embarkation was fast, especially since we had already received our Medallions in the mail. The ship is still all shiny and new, which is both good and bad. Good as it is sparkly, shiny, with no signs of wear anywhere. The bad is that it has a slight smell, kind of like the chemical smell of a new carpet. You get used to it as long as you are on the ship, but get off (or even go out of deck) it hits you as you get back in. Also bad is the ships creaks a lot in rougher seas. We had mild-medium swells so the ships were twisting and turning and everything was creaking and moaning. Especially bad in the lower decks (crewmembers said they could not sleep without earplugs). The lotus spa area sounded really bad.
Out Penthouse Suite was beautiful. Princess needs to update their Suite Perks info, as they didn't provide the upgraded bathroom amenities that I was looking forward to. (Only Sky Suites had this). Got the Dining perk and bar perk, which we thought wasn't included on one of these shorter cruises, so overall a bit confusing.
First time in a full suite, let alone a Penthouse Suite on deck 14. Loved it. Wide and spacious, more than enough room to move about in. TV's can be a bit slow and unresponsive, but that will likely improve with network improvements. Plenty of storage for 2-3 people. The deck is slim but wide, but that is the same on most decks on the Royal class ships. The bathroom is amazing for someone used to the extremely small regular princess bathroom with a coffin-sized shower and annoying curtain. Really wanted to try the tub, but ran out of time. Really wanted to try the upgraded bathroom amenities, but these were not provided. Only Sky Suites had them. Also no pillow menu.
