Cabin: Superior Verandah Suite

I had recently taken a cruise up the coast of California on the Celebrity Summit. It appeared that they had cut corners on food, cabin fitness, staffing and all aspects of the experience. More cost, much less given. Not so for the Eurodam !. Fabulous service, amazing food and variety, great logistics for embarkation and debarkation. (word to the wise, if check in begins at noon, come two hours before) Shore excursions, available transportation, specialty dining, entertainment , all were great. The veranda suite, midships offered a jacuzzi bathtub and separate shower, the in room dining was prompt and of good quality. For an older ship, the Eurodam is kept in fine condition.

However, there is way too much rolling of the ship even in relatively calm waters. We were in the Alaska inner straights. I have taken this voyage twice before, and did not experience the constant movement. As a consequence, myself and many passengers were sea sick at least two of the seven days of travel. We were traveling at a pretty good clip, around 21 knots. I asked an officer if they were deploying their stabilizers, and he would not really answer the question. I spoke to an engineer on board, and he said that without deploying the stabilizers, the ship benefits by better fuel economy. So it was all too often that the Main Dining Room on the 2nd and 3rd floor forward, were often poorly attended because of notable difficulty walking with the excessive ship movements. For a nominal cost of $40 , you can upgrade your internet package to supposedly around streaming. This is a total waste as most of the time, the internet is either out or incredible slow.

Unfortunately, the fine showing of the workings of the staff, food, entertainment and logistics, do not overcome the all too frequent uncomfortable ride. Regrettably, I would avoid traveling on this ship again.

Cabin Review

Superior Verandah Suite

Just fabulous ! Very comfortable bed, large sofa, and desk, two windows, amazing bathroom, very clean, includes binoculars and umbrella, ice every day, very quiet, very good selection of movies on a large clear tv screen.

Port Reviews

Glacier Bay

The ship let us see much of the scenery by its deep travel into the Bay. The Cove on deck 11 provides a comfortable perch for viewing along with ready access to hot chocolate and coffee
