As so many others have stated, Viking does almost everything well. The boat is immaculate, staff is professional/friendly/ and all seem to really care about your trip. Our crew was amazing- especially Stephen Guy our Cruise Director. Steward was there when needed with everything required. (We did have to request a top sheet on first day). Even the Covid testing (gross spitting in tube every morning) was tolerable after the first few days.
As title stated, this review would have been solid 5 stars, but on this cruise (our 3rd Viking), there were a few things I feel could have been better. First let me say that this is in no way an indictment of Viking or their personnel, this is about the cruise itself.
Our Grand European began in Budapest with brief afternoon guided tour, which like almost all Viking led tours featured a very professional guide with good English skills. The next day there was a more in depth tour which was great.
We love the Viking cabins with sitting balcony. Spend many hours sitting and relaxing out there. Can not imagine what cruise would have been like without our balcony since top deck was closed. Virtually instant hot water, heated bathroom floor, great absorbent towels, included toiletries, 110 volt US style outlets, comfortable mattress and pillows. Just be aware flushing the toilet is LOUD and ends with POP! Hard to be quiet.
