My wife and I in our mini suite,
I really liked the way the thermal suite in the spa on Viking Octantis had picture windows that looked out to the water. On the other Viking Ocean ships, there are no windows in the thermal suite.
A photo of one of the two submarines aboard Viking Octantis. I got to ride in the sub and we went down nearly 100 feet under the surface and took a look around at what was on the floor of the ocean.

My expectations for this ship turned out to be quite a bit off!

All I knew when I first heard about this ship is that it is smaller and carried less passengers than Viking's other ocean ships. I interpreted that to mean that it was going to be a scaled-back version of their other ships... that it would be somehow inferior.

But after a 10-day cruise on Viking Octantis, I'm here to tell you that this is a better ship than the other ocean ships in Viking's fleet. Viking took everything they learned from their ocean ships, and improved on things for this ship.

Cabin Review

Nordic Junior Suite

The Nordic Junior Suite is a fantastic cabin with a ton of storage space and lots of living space. Tremendously wider than the lower cabin categories, you will not feel cramped in this cabin. No matter how long you will be aboard the ship, there is plenty of storage space... including two full closets, a big chest of drawers, and many smaller storage areas throughout the cabin.

To give you an idea of how great this cabin is, Viking's Chairman, Torstein Hagen, was staying in one (just down the hall from me) while he was aboard.

The bathroom in this cabin is also particularly great. There are two sinks and lots of storage, and the shower is definitely large enough for two people to share, if you want to.
