This was our first time on an American Cruise Lines voyage. The company came highly recommended, but we were very disappointed. The ship had been renovated with new furnishings, so looked very nice. The crew quarters were still under renovation, so the staff and crew shared the guest quarters, including the lounges. This made for a very unprofessional atmosphere. Housekeeping in our room was non-existent. The bartender did not know how to mix drinks. The food was hit or miss with many dishes appearing to be experiments, resulting in many ruined and uneaten meals and hors d'oeuvres. The shore excursions were lame. The on-board interpreter and cruise director were second-rate at best. Excursions manager, Anthony White, was exceptional and went beyond the call of duty. Deck hands were excellent, keeping our safety their utmost concern. The trip cost twice what American Queen Steamboat Company was charging for the same itinerary, but American Cruise Lines did not deliver the superior quality advertised. We'll not travel with American Cruise Lines again.
The cabin was roomy and had a balcony. Housekeeping was non-existent.
