My spouse and I chose the Viking Cruises “Pacific Coast Explorer” itinerary as our first sailing after the pandemic eased. Our last cruise in 2019 had been a Viking cruise to Norway, and we had been more than impressed with the ship (the Star), and the staff, food, ports, and onboard entertainment, and amenities. So we did not hesitate to book another Viking vacation, and having Viking handle all the travel arrangements made things much easier!

This sailing did not disappoint. Although our ports - San Diego, San Francisco, Astoria and Victoria - weren’t as exciting or as exotic as Norway, we still had a great and relaxing time.

Our ship, the Orion, was immaculately clean and that meant a great deal to us. We observed staff diligently cleaning and straightening up endlessly. The largely Filipino crew was unfailingly polite, helpful, and eager to please.

Cabin Review

Our cabin on Deck 6 midship was very clean, comfortable, and offered everything we needed. The comfortable bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch. The bed was cozy and had comfy pillows. Our stateroom steward, Dhonna, was quick to respond to every request.

Port Reviews

Astoria, Oregon

The bus tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining!
