Love that RC is now on the west coast, so much closer to home. Booked as a mother daughter trip for her graduation. Upgraded as a surprise to a JS, even though not many perks apply to this level ship. Was not able to check in priority with the suites, was sent to main line, so one perk not honored. Check in guy said well this is close enough.Well that was a perk but ok. Once onboard you can tell only part of the ship is updated, our room was terrible with severe cracked sink and replacement of tile and loose carpet. I was only able to use our balcony for about an hour due to the smokers next door. Their smoke came under our connecting door and onto the balcony! Yes, we did complain. Due to smoke allergies, both of us had throat and sinus irritation. When I suspected that maybe my daughter had more than just that, we were told medical was closed. I tried once again on a different day and they said they were not covid testing. She tested positive directly off the ship. Coughing people everywhere without a care in the world (no way did they answer honestly on the health screening). RC needs to be more stern with enforcement of the health screening and smoking policies as well as follow through on covid protocols. Had to rent a car to get home due to the positive test and us not wanting to expose the airport or plane. Now I will have to say, MAI is an AMAZING full of energy cruise director. Probably one of the best we have ever had. They are blessed to have her. ALL the shows are great. Had to see the I Skate show twice, the drones are amazing. Not upset she got covid, but upset that RC is not honoring their own policy as far as testing and travel accommodations home. I am a couple points shy of D+ with 4 star class cruises in the future, but this has me rethinking on how and where I spend my money for vacation.
