Having seen this unique style of ship which is so different from the run of the mill liners that pass my window on Portsmouth seafront, my partner and I decided to experience a short taster trip from Amsterdam returning to Portsmouth. Its modern appearance was reflected in all the amenities offered on board. It was a breath of fresh air compared to other stuffy cruise ships we have sailed on and we were both very pleasantly surprised. Lots of things to do and a good choice of venues to dine each evening. No pre-allocated tables sitting with strangers- book your own table each evening and eat where and with whom you like. No obligatory dress nights - dress according to the restaurant you have chosen to dine in. No rigorous time tables etc, it was wonderfully relaxing and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Staff, without exception were very pleasant and went the extra mile for us. We especially appreciated the wonderful tour of the Bridge, particularly as my partner is an ex Naval Commander. Considering the ship had only been afloat for a few weeks, inevitable teething problems were almost non-existent and virtually unnoticeable. These were more than compensated for by the wonderful innovative ideas, shiny new facilities and the attention to detail of the wonderful staff who were extremely capable and eager to make sure we had a fabulous time - which we did!
