Embarkation was speedy and efficient. We parked our car at 55 Francisco St, walked across the street to the pier, and arrived at 10:30 am. By 11:00 am, we had checked in, and had been shown upstairs to another sitting area. Shortly afterwards, we got on the ship. We were on the ship before noon, and our luggage was delivered to our cabin before the muster drill - a first for us!

Our inside cabin was very tiny, but the shower was much roomier than on other Princess ships we have been on (Grand, Coral, Island). The bed was firm, but very comfortable - we slept well! Our cabin steward was wonderful - best steward we have ever had. Room was made up promptly every morning and every afternoon - and service with a smile!

Our first problem, and the main problem on this cruise, was the Anytime Dining. We have had AD previously on other ships, and have never had an issue. On this cruise, there were long, long waits in line - then when you finally got to the entrance of the dining room, you were handed a pager. Halfway through the cruise another passenger told us we could call and make reservations for a specific time in AD. It turned out that you can only reserve for 5:30 or 8:30 pm. The first time we reserved for 5:30 pm, it was fine. The second time, we waited in line for 30 minutes - while people who had no reservations walked right up and were seated promptly (there were 2 separate lines - one for those with reservations and one for those without reservations). Another reviewer mentioned that the last 2 nights in the Anytime Dining was a breeze - no waits at all. Well, that's probably because most people had given up on the dining room and were in the buffet!! Actually, there were some delicious dishes (for a change) in the buffet on the last night, including Prime Rib, artichoke salad, some delicious pork chops, etc. Usually the food in the buffet at lunch or dinner did not look appetizing, with a very few exceptions.

Cabin Review

Cabin J

Tiny cabin, but it had adequate storage space for our clothes. The shower was surprisingly roomy. We never heard any noise from other cabins or the hallway, but since the cabin was directly over the Princess Theater we could hear music during the shows and rehearsals. It wasn't too loud, though - it certainly didn't keep us from sleeping, and didn't last long.
