We are on day two of our Ecstasy cruise and everything is wonderful. We are in our late 60's with more than 10 cruises, and have no complaints. We have cruised on Princess, Holland, NCL and Oceania, and would compare this cruise to Princess and Holland. Yes the ship is old but everything is clean and up to spec. The carpets look new and you would not think this is the ship's final season.
I read lots of complaints about the food and strongly disagree. Don't expect Oceania level food on Carnival. We ate at the buffet upon boarding and had good paella, beef with onions, and a carved pork roast. For dessert I had German chocolate cake and citrus cake. A little later I had chocolate cone from the soft serve machine. Diner was in the open seating restaurant. I had a salad, roast chicken, and tiramisu. The chicken portion was a little small, but everything was very good. My wife had very good mahi-mahi. Tonight's menu has ceasar salad and prime rib.
The ship is about 45 percent of capacity. If you want a great value I highly recommend this cruise
We in an outside cabin. The cabin is on the small side. The bed is ok, but a little hard. The bathroom is fine. No complaints. Again, a great value.
