We were finally able to take our cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette after a two year hiatus due to COVID. Headed to Fort Lauderdale the day before our departure. Stayed at the Riverside Hotel for the one night prior to our cruise. Excellent location right on Las Olas Boulevard. The hotel was very nice. Highly recommend. We had a departure time of 1:30pm but had already had our transportation set for pick up at 12pm. Quick 10 minute ride to Port Everglades with transportation provided by UNIQUE PHA TRANSPORT ($10.00 pp). Handy was our driver (very professional and courteous).
Arrived at the Port and were checked in and on the ship by 1pm. Masks were required when checking in but once on the ship it was mask optional. All the staff and crew (masked) were so happy to see you. They all thanked you for being back. We thanked them as well for being there for us to be able to cruise again. The ship was at less than half capacity which was under 1300 passengers and only 900 crew. We had lunch at the Ocean View Cafe. After lunch our cabins were ready so we were able to unpack and get organized. Our Cabin was Completely redone with many new features not seen on previous sailings with Celebrity. Our room steward was excellent and very conscientious throughout our entire sailing. No request was too much for him. The ship was spotless. The staff were constantly cleaning and sanitizing the entire cruise. They were AMAZING.
The shows were definitely scaled back as some of the production staff were in quarantine due to COVID. The cruise director, Tim was in quarantine when our sailing started but after the second day he appeared. The Captain made daily announcements about COVID as well. There were only two production shows during our 11 day sailing. They were both excellent (Broadway Show themes). The comedian was very funny. He did about three shows. There was a magician/illusionist who was amazing. The headliner shows were all vocal and instrumental music. I have to say that they were quite nice. I felt like I was at Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall. Overall, I have to say that all the production staff and crew did an outstanding job. The Cruise Director was very engaging and present throughout our sailing. You can really tell he loves his job.
Love Aruba. We got a cab after we got off the ship and went to the beach. Beautiful beach and perfect weather.
Bonaire was a beautiful island. We had never been to this port before. I booked through Bonaire Cruisers and rented a golf cart for the day. We toured all over the island. Stopped at a beach and had lunch.
We have been to Curacao before and wanted to see more of the island. I booked a private tour with Gone Caribe Tours. It was the best tour. Joseph was our tour guide and took us to two beautiful beaches were we snorkeled and had lunch. The beaches in Curacao are AMAZING. Joseph told us all about Curacao. I highly recommend them.
