April 2022 - My wife and I have been on numerous cruises (24+) throughout the world on various cruise lines over the years. This was our fifth river cruise on Viking. Our Douro River Cruise started in Lisbon, Portugal on April 4, 2022. We took the pre-cruise option. This was our first trip out of the USA since 2019.

Our flight from Florida arrived a few days early so we could enjoy Lisbon and get over any jet lag. On our first day in Lisbon, we arrived at the hotel around 8 am. After getting our room, we hit the streets. The hotel was in a wonderful location … easy access to the city center. During the rest of the week, Viking arranged for tours of the city and the local countryside. In our free time we took the tramcar tour, which was narrated, a funicular and the Justa Lift. This was all covered by the 22 EURO tramcar fee. We also ate nicely at the street cafes.

Boarding the Viking Torgil on April 8 was very easy. Viking bused us from Lisbon to Porto to board the Torgil. We were tested for COVID 19 in Lisbon and almost everyday on the ship.

Cabin Review

Veranda

The cabin was nice, maybe a little tight. Storage was fine, as was the bathroom. The location of the cabin was excellent.
