We were so excited to try the new ship by American Queen. From the time we arrived to check in for our Covid test, it was so disorganized. It took forever to get through all of the procedures and seemed like personel were not prepared. Our rooms were very nice and we had a great cabin steward named Richard. We had ask for early seating at 5:30 as our party of four had issues with eating late and we were assured by our travel agent that we could work that our when we got on our ship. They would not listen to us and had no concern for this. We always had to eat at 8:00. By the time we got served our meal, it was 9:00 pm and many times the desert we wanted was already gone, the meat was over cooked and I ended up eating a baked potato for my meal four nights on the trip. Our waiter was very good and tried hard to please us but everything was out of his control. The were very short staffed and should have warned us prior to getting on the boat. By the time we were finished it was many times 10:00 pm before we left the dining room.
The entertainment was a very talented group of five men but they played Jazz almost every night and we are not very fond of Jazz. We wanted more variety in there music. The majic show was fantastic and the last night was a wonderful Blues singer. Some of the shore excursions were not up to what we had found on other cruise lines. We did not stop in two cities and were not told why. Our last excursion in Tunica was not good. We road the bus for 20 minutes and then were told the venue was closed. Our guide red her talk from her Ipad and was not well informed. She had very little interesting facts about the area. The tour of New Orleans and the tour of Memphis were both very good with good guides.
The staff on the boat were all very good and helpful and tried very hard to make up for poor management of the cruise.

Richard was a great helper and kept our cabin clean and always was ready when we returned from breakfast.
We wanted to visit the cities on the Mississippi.
