Cabin: Ocean View Balcony

My wife and I just returned from a 5-night Caribbean Cruise on Wonder, our third post-Covid and our first since hitting Diamond. My brother and sister-in-law also cruised with us. This was our second Oasis-class (first was Symphony) and it was “Wonder”-ful overall! We chose this cruise as it was an opportunity to cruise on Royal's newest, biggest ship since it got redirected from China to Florida.

Itinerary included Cozumel (meh) and Perfect Day at CocoCay (yeah!) which is always great.

Like most of my reviews, this is a little long, but hopefully helpful, so a few thoughts up front. The ship beautiful and huge. Waiter in main dining room told us they were sailing with about 4,800 passengers (roughly 80% capacity) and since it was still spring break-ish time, there were more kids than we’ve seen on our last 2 post-Covid cruises. Very rarely did it seem crowded.

Ocean View Balcony

We had an ocean front balcony slightly forward of mid-ship. Really nice. Balcony caught a lot of sun. Soundproofing works pretty good, although hallway noise carried through the front door at night. AC only works when the balcony door is locked, so keep that in mind.

Room was spacious with a king-sized bed (!) and a large couch. Had a mini-fridge. Storage was very good (suitcases fit under the bed and it seemed like more closet hanging space that other ships – tons of hangers). Bathroom was good. Shower was largest I’ve used. Looks like they made the sink area smaller to make the shower stall a bit bigger. The bathroom door uses magnets to hold it closed and I never could figure out where the “catch the magnets” was, so it always kind of slams shut. Useful to know when you get up at night to go to the bathroom. It did have a nightlight feature which was good.

Room steward Marvin was awesome and he was that ninja-elf you hear about (you leave for 5 minutes and come back and the room has been cleaned, bed made, new towels)

Port Reviews

We've been several times (and enjoyed ourselves) but this time stayed on the ship and enjoyed the waterslides/pool deck without the crowds.
