First cruise on the Queen Mary 2 since the pandemic. We have cruised 19 times on her and the last time in January 2020. We were anxious to go back and this itinerary was perfect, and experience the changes that Cunard has advertised.
1-The "New" Spa called "Mareel" is replacing Canyon Ranch and is a complete disappointment; a real downgrade from Canyon Ranch:
No masseur was available, only little giggling masseuses better trained to give you aggresive sales pitches for expensive spa products and services. Unpleasant management of the spa, with managers implying that you know nothing, should shut up and pay for their services. Attitude not acceptable.
Excellent cabins, very comfortable with nice storage facilities. Wonderful bed, with cabin steward accommodating all your wishes.
Amenities now come in dispensers, but are still the same: Penhaligon from London and are very good.
No bar soap though, so bring your own.
No internet access from your stateroom anymore with their new system which was supposed to be an improvement. It is not. You used to be able to connect to WiFi by sitting next to your cabin door, now no more: You must go to the Corinthia lounge or look around the ship where you can connect.
We were not allowed to disembark in Barbados where we stayed for two days. We could not walk to the terminal which has many shops.
St. Maarten offers a lot of options for sport, shopping and sightseeing.
