This cruise happened during the height of the Omicron wave when ships had started to tighten up onboard safety measures once again. With that said, and even with the safety protocols in place, Disney delivered quality entertainment, above average dining and wonderful, caring crew.

The other surprise with this cruise is that it was at the time where USVI were not allowing that many ships to visit, so a few days before the cruise, we were made aware of a change from an Eastern Caribbean cruise to a modified Western Caribbean cruise, with stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya (instead of USVI and BVI). This somewhat defeated cruise pre-planning as all guests desiring to get ashore had to rebook port adventures on embarkation day.

Entertainment: The main reason for sticking to this cruise was the Star Wars theming on at least one of the day, and Disney delivered in this area. It started the night before the day at sea with the awesome Star Wars musical fireworks, plenty of activities and photo ops during the day at sea, a deck party that night, a special dinner in the main dining room, fun character interactions, and special shows/entertainment. The ship, even though it was properly around 35% capacity, was very alive during that day - and even with the distancing measures in place. For that, DCL made sure to repeat the same events several time so that people have an opportunity to see/attend. The regular entertainment was OK, but DCL figured out the schedule somewhat last minute, primarily due to "crew availability". This cruise features some individual acts as well, which were good. The shows lacked a little bit of their usual punch with minimal crowd interaction and a theater which was less than half full. Given the limitations in place, I'd say that the entertainment did not disappoint, but was a tiny little bit below what one is used on DCL.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (oversized verandah)

I really enjoy the AFT, extended verandah rooms on the Dream class ships. Not only does the inside has plenty of place to move around, the verandah is quite sizeable compared to other on the ship.

The main bed is quite comfortable and the split bathroom concept is great. Plenty of storage. Sofa was comfortable. No issues with room temperature, water temperature and shower pressure.

Friendly, efficient stateroom attendant who got the room cleaned every day.

There can be some drawback of this location as it is more prone to ship's noise and vibration, as well as soot from the chimney. On the last two days of the cruise, we had very strong winds and the exhaust smell was the strongest I have ever experienced on a cruise.

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay is a great place, and an even greater one where the ship is at less than half capacity.

There were several activities offered, although some were cancelled due to wind conditions. We did a walk and kayak tour that we really enjoyed.

The water was nice (we were 1st in the water at around 8:45am), food (lunch BBQ buffet) good - but not great, the beach was well maintained, decent character interactions and OK shopping.
