We chose a Viking River Cruise to see historic sites without having to repack out bags every night. The trip started out well but the weather was terrible with rain, wind and cold. We were unable to use our balcony at all. The food was great, service exceptional. Entertainment was not good with only a piano player playing “easy listening” music. Viking conducted daily Covid testing. My travel companion tested positive so we were kicked off the boat to a hotel in Frankfurt. We asked about plans, costs, and returning home but we’re onLy told that “ headquarters was working on it”. When we arrived at the hotel after a three hour cab ride, the Viking contact person was not available by phone. We received a letter from the hotel stating that we needed to stay in our rooms and were not allowed in the lobby, bar or dining room. (I never tested positive for Covid.). They would put our food and linens on the floor outside our rooms and we could pick them up and do our own room service. I finally reached the representative and asked him three times who was responsible for the cost of the hotel room and food. Each time he said Viking would pay the cost and change our flights for returning home the day after we tested negative. We finally got to go home. The travel arrangements were written on a piece of paper and slid under the door at 6:00 am. We needed to leave by 8:00 to get to the airport on time. Me were charged for the rooms and food on our credit cards. The hotel told us to submit them to our travel insurance for a refund. I did not have travel insurance and was lied to. The flight arrangements did not even get us to our final destination. We had to spend another $800 for a final leg to get home. DO NOT TRAVEL WITH THIS COMPANY.
