This cruise was our 5th with Princess (out of 8 total cruises). We originally booked a Caribbean cruise back just before Covid hit and as everyone knows it got cancelled, and cancelled again, and cancelled again. Our work schedules limited us to a cruise at the beginning of April. To our dismay, Princess pretty much moved all of their ships out of the Caribbean during our timeframe. We decided to try this itinerary, excited that it would be all new to us. Our first surprise was the cold weather! From sailing away in LA all the way down the coast it was cold. Ok, I didn't plan well.. disappointing for sure but that's on me. Should have brought warmer clothes. So on with the good:
Beautiful, clean ship. The layout is good but if you're eating at Alfredo's or the French restaurant while music is playing it may be overwhelming. The pool at the lido deck was nice, but the weather prevented it from really being used. The covered pool is nice, although during warm weather it would be nice to retract the roof, but that wasn't an issue on this trip. The food and service at the specialty restaurants were very good. We went to all 3 (and Alfredos) but i'll get to why in a moment. The staff for the most part were very good. The medallion was great for unlocking your door and finding your friends on the app. Speaking of the app it was great when ordering drinks/food. We had a balcony cabin that was just right for 2 people. The balcony was clean, but we didn't use it - again, due to the weather. The beds are so comfortable - slept great! Entertainers were all very talented, especially the comedian.
So the not so good (but didn't ruin our trip):
We had the standard balcony cabin. Nice size for 2. Clean. great bed and pillows. Small bathroom and the balcony is more like a shelf for 2.
We did an excursion to the Arch and then a few hours at a beach resort. The water was cold so we just stayed on the beach. The vendors on the beach are too much. Nice marina area with lots of restaurants and shopping.
Had a great day. Did an excursion with mini speed boats and beach day. Again, the water was too cold to go in. We also had time to visit the beautiful Cathedral and then hike up to the hill to the lighthouse.
We did the excursion to las caletas. The excursion left really late waiting for no cruise guests to arrive. It was a relaxing day there but really needed more time to explore. Again, cold water. Thankfully this was a Princess excursion because we were an hour late getting back to the ship and she was still there!
