I have been on many cruises and had not be on an Oasis class ship. This seemed like a no brainer. I have not been on Princess cruises either. After this cruise, I realized why I left Royal to go to other lines. In short, the ship is very good. It has multiple areas so things do not get too congested. It is very kid friendly and geared towards that type of clientele. The entertainment was OK--Cats show cancelled due to injury, the aqua show had great diving, but very poor choreography and a feeble attempt at dance, the ice show was very well done, and the magic show was excellent. There were things to do, but not as much as in the past. There were lulls and we never saw or heard from the cruise director except during one show.

The dining service was impeccable, but the quality of the food was average. There were less food selections available at the windjammer when compared with NCL, Carnival, or MSC. Even being on board for only 3 nights, we felt that we had to pay in order to get a quality meal by going to a specialty restaurant, which are all over $44 per person. What a rip off! We were glad it was not a one week cruise, as this would not be the ship for us--two middle agers.

The ship itself is a huge step up from the previous class, where congestion was common. The finishings on the ship were average, but tasteful and show their age in terms of color palate. The room was spacious and the bathroom had more space than many other ships. The gym was adequate, nothing great, but more than other ships offer. It was congested when I went in the morning.

Cabin Review

Cabin was nice and roomy. Bathroom had more space than most other ships. Bed was very firm and not comfortable.
