My husband and I went on Iona in September 21 just as traveling was deemed ok. Embarkation seemed a little bit of a non event, on previous ships there has been a red carpet with a photographer there and a glass of bubbles but there was nothing. There were covid procedures in place however some seemed to contradict others (i.e you can sing in the bar at night without masks but masks were to be worn in you went to sing in the choir? also you couldn't dance in the club at night but they had dance classes?) all seemed to be a tick box exercise most of which the staff knew were silly or unnecessary.

We opted for an outside Seaview room as we didn't make any stops and our only view for 7 days was the bay of biscay, which I have to say treated us kindly despite passing through before and being a totally different experience.

The room was lovely and spacious, room 5304 forward, I loved the window "nook" with its curtain and often spent an hour or so in the morning reading whilst my husband had a lay in, the curtain makes it cozy and you can shut yourself off from the rest of the world with the sea right next to you. I would pick this room type again if there was a big saving compared to a balcony. The bathroom was a good size with a glass shower door.
