We were very pleased with our cruise aboard the Sigrun. We sailed September 2021, the Rhine Getaway. Because of Covid, the ship had only 68 passengers. Our room was cleaned daily and was always immaculate. The bed was very comfortable. Maybe due to a smaller group, we felt we were given a lot of attention by the staff. The meals were always good and extra servings were available for those who asked. My husband needed to try two desserts after dinner!

All the tour guides were excellent. We missed the local tour (delayed plane departure) when we arrived in Lucerne, but the guide contacted us to do a special tour for us and the other couple who missed the first day. She gave us tips on where to eat and what to see, which bus to take to the Castle Gutsch and directions to the Lion of Lucerne. Dinner outside at the Hotel Schiff was delicious! The Pearls of Switzerland was a full day of sightseeing and experiences. After a boat ride across the lake, we took a cogwheel train up Mount Rigi, had lunch at a café at the top, then boarded a different train down the mountain to get on a bus to the village of Einsiedeln. We were so lucky to see the parade of brown cows with their decorative oversized bells as they were herded from the mountain to lower pastures for the winter. We toured the Benedictine Monastery with its black Madonna and visited some shops nearby before heading to a dairy farm to make cheese and have a fondue dinner. The tour guides mixed in history and local culture for all our tours. They also gave helpful instructions and were prompt to point out where the restrooms were at each stop.

Sometimes it was hard to choose excursions, but we always enjoyed our choice. We were able to see the Fortress Ehrenbreitstein on our own after the paid excursion to the Marksburg Castle (a must see).
