My partner and I chose this cruise to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We previously have had five cruises with Viking and were never disappointed. We had two wonderful dinners at Manfredi’s an Italian themed restaurant. The food and service was excellent in every respect including the buffet restaurant. The ships are very modern, all have the same theme and layout. We were PCR tested every morning, our stateroom was pristine at all times and the staff, as always, were friendly and professional at all times. Because it was our anniversary Viking sent us a small cake, a bottle of Champagne and a card to mark the occasion. A very thoughtful touch, indeed.
As soon as we arrived at the Athens Airport we were met by Viking staff who kept us fully informed of the procedure for embarkation and we had the same experience when it came time to leave.
The entertainment in the theatre was OK as other themed evenings have been much better. However, there were several passengers who refused to keep their mask on. When the Viking Cruise Director came up to them and gently requested for them to put their mask on they refused. The Viking Cruise Director then just walked away. Thankfully, with the ship being less than half full no one tested positive.
This was the first time we have been disappointed in our cabin with Viking. The sofa was ripped and one of the arms on the sofa has a big hole in it. The carpet was stained in several places. The outside veranda table was dirty as well as the chairs. It did not look as if they were cleaned in quite some time.
Bed was fantastic. Mini bar great. Head lovely but small. Rain shower was wonderful as well as the heated floor. TV with all the information on it & continuously updated was informative & accurate. Lighting also very good.
