This cruise was supposed to happen in May 2020 to celebrate our 50th Anniversary, but COVID got it cancelled. We used our 125% voucher to do the same cruise in September 2021and we’re so glad we braved the situations still going on with pandemic to squeeze it in. The Viking bubble made us feel very safe and even though Holland threw us some curveballs that got our pre-extension cancelled, Viking stepped up and found a way to get an excursion to the Kinderdijt windmills and Dordrecht outside Amsterdam. Holland said you could quarantine for 14 days upon entering, or leave within 12 hours. Using the 12 hour window Viking got all 94 onboard in Amsterdam and then took us to Emmerich, Germany where we stayed overnight, and then they bussed us back for the excursions. I was impressed with their ability to pivot and still try to give us as much as they could.

The rest of the cruise and post extension to Prague were outstanding. The bus trip to Prague from Budapest took all day, but what an adventure stopping for lunch at the Hungarian “7/11” gas stop!

We especially liked the service and view from the Aquavit terrace every morning as Nico took care of my double smoked salmon egg’s Benedict order and my wife’s egg of the day.

Cabin Review

Veranda Superior

Though not what we would considered spacious the Scandinavian design elements and plenty of storage allowed us to unpack completely with everything in its place and suitcases tucked away under the very comfortable bed! It was so easy to keep our cabin neat and tidy!
