Having previously cruised with RCI and Carnival we thought Virgin Voyages would be something different. We booked through Imagine Cruising for what was described as an 80s extravaganza. This couldn’t have been further from the truth. In reality this amounted to three hours of god quality entertainment. The cruise advertised a stop in Madeira that was subsequently cancelled and a two day stay in Lisbon that ended up being one day and then reduced to an evening due to an unforeseen and tragic event. Imaging and Virgin recognised the experience fell below their desired standard and have offered a free cruise - minus air travel, port taxes so not that free.

The ship does not have sufficient entertainment for an eleven night cruise. The crew are friendly but largely in-experienced. Entertainment was cancelled at short notice with no explanation and no alternative. Food in the galley did not change from day to day. Drinks were very expensive and of variable quality. Gin and tonic with the tonic from a tap was undrinkable. We asked for bottled tonic which vastly improved the drink. Paying up to 13 dollars for a single drink is not acceptable.

The app does not work consistently. No announcements apart from in the two emergency situations does not make sense as nobody knows what’s going on as the app does not work consistently.

Cabin Review

Good rooms - TV does not work consistently.
