This cruise was a birthday celebration for me. We originally planned on heading to Puerto Rico on January 6. Based on reports here and elsewhere, we felt there was some possibility that the cruise would be canceled, so we opted to fly in a day later to give NCL one more day to cancel.

A week or so before we left, a wonderful couple we'd met on our September Getaway cruise let us know that they would be joining us. This REALLY added to our excitement.

We stayed at the Royal Sonesta, and the hotel upgraded our room because I was celebrating a birthday. We had a Juliette-balcony which faced the pool/beach area. The hotel was nice, and we spent most of our days lounging at the beach and enjoying beverages from the beach-side bar. We did no touring, because we knew we would be Covid-tested before boarding the ship, and I was struggling with back pain, which was highly aggravated by walking. We did see one group unable to join us, due to positive test results.
