I guess I should begin by saying that we have been to Miami a couple of times and noticed a remarked difference in attitude from staff at hotels. I should really advise of a small con when you book a taxi to the Cruise Port. We did this twice (we were on the Joy following the Getaway) and the same thing happened on both occasions from different hotels. Instead of a taxi arriving a massive black 4x4 limousine pulled up. It seems that either the taxi company or the receptionist knows that you are going to the Cruise Port they assume you need to be there on time and have cash to burn on a bigger car. Both drivers came in and spoke to reception (clearly a transaction taking place) before leading us to the car. On the first occasion we needed to be at the Port by a set time and therefore had to commit the $50 for the short journey from South Beach. The second time despite requesting a Yellow Taxi the Limousine arrived and we refused stating that was not what we had requested. The bell boy arranged an Uber ($17). Interestingly the first driver asked to be paid before we reached the Port……he did not want to be seen taking money in front of the Authorities.
This was our 2nd Cruise on the beautiful Getaway after having enjoyed a week in the Haven in 2016.
This time we chose a balcony room and hoped to get Vibe passes as we do like the quieter outside areas of the ship and find it easier to sit on sunbeds with cushions and that have shade from the parasols.
