As Platinum members being on 15 previous Carnival Cruise this was the most disappointing cruise we have taken with Carnival...The ship itself is gorgeous and very clean and this was our second cruise on the Horizon as we were on its last before Covid hit in March 2020.The 2020 Horizon cruise was excellent in all areas...This cruise was lacking in so so many area's.First of all Food service... Our waiters were inexperienced .Carnival now relies on you to use your smart phone and their app to see the menu...If your table asks for a hard copy menu first of all the waiters frown on it and when they do bring a hard copy menu they bring 1 menu for a table of 8 .Food portions are smaller and there is reduced variety...Entertainment...This was the biggest disappointment.. No Broadway style shows and most nights its the theatre singers singing karaoke on the stage...We had 1 night that was good when they brought a Motown singer on board and another night with a ventriloquist. The other 6 nights were major let downs..In the Country bar ie BBQ they had a country singer playing a guitar that would have a hard time bringing in 10 people to a bar in Northern Ontario Canada..In the Ocean Plaza the band singers were not good at all even though some members of the band tried to play their hearts out.The Piano bar always a favorite place they had a piano player that had a hard time getting 25 people to come in...He could play very well but he did not have the people skills to entertain people in that venue.The Cruise director Erin also lacked people skills that we have been so accustomed to on 15 previous Carnival cruises...One positive thing was this was the first mask optional cruise..Cabin service was also lacking and we felt our steward and his assistant had too many cabins to clean...Turn down service at night is now a thing of the past. For Platinum and Diamond members who have perks you are on your own to find those perks at different locations on the ship as no one tells you.The Diamond platinum party was a joke with no food and limited drinks and get out after 30 minutes...Erin should be ashamed of herself for that one.We are hoping things change as the year goes forward as we have another Carnival cruise booked this September...Carnival has a lot of work to do to return to the pre covid standard of excellence they were known for.
