I sailed on the Norweigian Encore on 3/20 and I am writing this review while I am still on board. It pains me to say that this is the WORST CRUISE I have ever taken and I may never cruise NCL again. I am a frequent cruiser and have been on over 20-25 cruises. The ship is beautiful and the staff courteous and that is all that is good. First of all the cruise was during spring break and they only informed us AFTER BOOKING, in 1 out of about 10 emails, that the KIDS CLUB IS CLOSED and only the teen club is open due to Covid. BAIT & SWITCH!!!! Everyone on this ship had to be tested for Covid within 48 hours of sailing so this makes no sense, and the teen club was open. Every parent of a 3 to 12 year old had to keep their children with them at ALL TIMES even when they were allowed for 1 hour into the teen club. The cruise advertised several activities for the kids including VR games, Speedway cars, and Lasertag. EVERY activity for the kids or adults had an EXTRA CHARGE at a minimum charge of $8 per person per ride. The Speedway was $15 per person per ride. Therefore for my family of 4 to go on one ride or activity the minimum was $32 per ride or $60 per ride for Speedway. EVERYTHING on the cruise required a RESERVATION including comedy shows, theater shows, tenders to get off boat, all dinners (even in regular dining rooms), kids activities and rides, EVERYTHING. Then half the activities are for 18+ only but there is NO CHILDCARE available so no one with children on the ship can attend. Everytime I asked someone for help or went to guest services I received no help and lame excuses. I went to ask why I had not received my discounts on excursions and shopping (for being a SILVER LEVEL MEMBER after cruising at least 6 or more times with NCL) and they said I had to go back to each different location to specifically request my discounts and guest services could not help me. SERIOUSLY?? Last but not least the service overall was horrible. The dinner service in the restaurants was INCREDIBLY SLOW waiting more than 30 minutes for appetizers and 30 more minutes for entrees. The dinner service NEVER took less than 2 hours and I almost walked out. The first night after waiting, I was served Salmon that was raw in the middle. I told the Maitre’d and he said “we were very busy and tomorrow will be better.” HUH?? To my understanding they had an issue with their ship The ESCAPE and so brought like 800-1,000 extra people on our ship meaning our vacation was ruined so NCL didn’t have to lose money. I was given 150 minutes of internet Free with booking and it was too slow to even download my email with the only alternative being to pay $39/day for faster email. This is the most BAIT AND SWITCH, CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING, OVERPRICED, BORING, NOT RELAXING vacation ever, and has destroyed cruising for me on this cruiseline. Don’t walk…RUN TO ANOTHER CRUISELINE IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY YOUR VACATION!
