We were really looking forward to this cruise and actually changed cruise line to travel with SAGA as we had loved SPIRIT OF DISCOVERY last year. Sadly, had a couple of passengers isolating from a back to back cruise to Norway just prior to embarkation. Those cases increased rapidly after sailing despite very tight testing and isolation protocols on board. We left the Azores, hopeful that numbers would fall. It soon became obvious that we were not going to meet the entry requirements for entry to the Caribbean islands and the decision was made to turn around and head back to Southampton. Now , despite the obvious disappointment and reduced facilities on board e.g. spa and speciality restaurants, I cannot praise SAGA enough for the way the situation was handled. Luckily, no one was seriously ill. The staff were brilliant, working so hard and covering each others’ duties. The cruise director did superbly to keep some entertainment going. We were kept informed by the captain the whole time and disembarkation was as smooth as you like even though it must have been a nightmare to organise port transfers. I was surprised and absolutely delighted to receive a letter on board informing us of a full refund which arrived a week later. I can’t imagine the many other cruise lines we have used doing this. We therefore had 15 nights on board a beautiful ship at no cost! We had chocolates, champagne and biscuits delivered gratis to our cabin and staff just kept smiling. I will definitely sail with SAGA in the future. I have total faith in their customer service and their commitment to the wellbeing of passengers and crew. Well done SAGA

Cabin Review

Delightful cabin aft with fantastic access to back terrace on deck 9. Good size balcony. Great bathroom. Prefer the bedside lights on it’s sister ship Discovery. Wardrobe a bit tricky to get to. Carpet pattern a bit dodgy! Chose this one over a suite this time as I feel the standard balcony offers great facilities at a better price.
