Hurtigruten lived up to its sky high expectations as the leading Expedition Cruise Company in the World. No other company comes close. It just must be experienced. I would not pick another company. Absolutely outstanding in every way, and the litmus test? The happiness level of the crew - they all raved about their employer.
The cruise started at Punta Arenas and covered the glaciers of the Chilean fjords, Cape Horne Island, across the Drake Passage, December Island which is a dormant volcano, and crossing the Antarctic Circle, zodiac trios amongst the ice bergs, kayaking expeditions around ice floes with fur seals, camping overnight in tents in the snow, scientists sharing their passion for birds, whales and sea mammals, clouds, history of human endeavour in Antarctica , geography, geology. The food was outstanding and exciting with a little surprise every meal referencing Hurtigruten’s Norwegian roots. I can’t wait to go on another expedition again with Hurtigruten!
Outstanding and cool Scandinavian decor
Exciting to visit the only living volcano in Antarctica- even the sand is hot to touch
