We had originally booked to cruise on Celebrity Edge, however the itinerary changed twice and was no longer the cruise we booked so cancelled and rebooked for a 9 night cruise on Equinox to the Dutch Antilles.

We travelled from London Heathrow a very tedious 9 and a half hour journey. We arrived at approx 7pm and were met at Miami airport and transferred to our hotel for the night.

The hotel was the Aventura, a new hotel in Miami Beach. It’s large with a large, mostly empty reception area with a bar at one side. It doesn’t have a restaurant but the bar serves snacks which was fine as at 9.30pm we weren’t looking for anything too heavy.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Standard twin cabin narrow, two people couldn’t pass the beds at the same time. The beds were comfortable the air con was good and the balcony was a good size with 2 lounge seats.

The shower room was a good size with a good size shower. No branded toiletries only containers on the shower wall for shampoo conditioner and body wash. Body lotion was in a container on the vanity unit. The containers were filled when required by the room steward.

The towels were good quality and were changed daily. We also had dressing gowns but no slippers.

Port Reviews

Aruba

Pretty island with lots of tax free shopping

Bimini

Pretty island

Bonaire

Pretty island but poorer than the others in this chain, but proud of their eco programme

Curacao

Pretty island bigger than other much more bustling and cosmopolitan.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Everglades were interesting and saw a few of the inhabitants. Could have done without the alligator ‘show’.
