We have cruised with Regent many times and having been on their Southampton to Barcelona trip in September 2021 (the second cruise after restart) we had such a lovely time we immediately booked to join our friend on their 'Icons of the Caribbean' trip - 14 days from Miami to Miami. Lovely itinerary and we were so excited.
Then of course Omicron hit - fast spreading even to the fully vaccinated and boosted and ports started to close to cruise ships. We had friends on the Mariner who had most of their stops after the Panama Canal cancelled heading to San Francisco and of course the world cruise was cancelled. We got Omicron over Christmas and New Year - a mild version but with brain fog and tiredness, but at least we felt we would have plenty of antibodies and would be pretty unlucky to get it again.
Our main concern was that as with the NCL cruise, Regent would cancel because they could not stop anywhere. Indeed the cruises before us had many variations to their itineraries. But lady luck was shining down on us this time and we had an absolutely wonderful time.
Spacious, alwasy spotless and any minor issues sorted within minutes.
