We cruised late November/early December during COVID. We have always wanted to see the Normandy Beaches and have never been to Paris so it was a win/win! This was our 2nd Viking cruise (first was Grand European - maybe we shouldn't have started so ambitious). It did not disappoint. Everything was terrific and familiar. The ship was beautiful (and just like their other Longships which makes it very easy to get around). We had never cruised during the holidays but the ship was decorated for Christmas with trees and lights. They hosted several events including a "trim the tree" decorating night where guests were provided with Viking ornaments to decorate and trim the tree. The crew were also terrific - so accommodating, friendly, personable, especially in the main dining room. We felt very safe with regard to COVID (they provided tests every day at their expense) and all guests were following safety rules with regard to social distancing, wearing masks, etc. The included excursions were wonderful and informative. They held a special ceremony at the American Cemetery which was so much appreciated and very moving. We have already booked our next Viking cruise (ocean this time) and are looking at booking more. Viking does an A++ job at keeping their guests happy, well fed and comfortable and it is a pleasure cruising with them.
Spectacular view of the landing beaches and American Cemetery. Our waiter even provided us with small glass jars in order to take home some of the sand from Omaha Beach. It was very special since we had family members who served during WWII.
