Hey All,

Just returning from my first ever MSC cruise experience (and honestly, only my second cruise ever, the first being on Holland America Eurodam pre-pandemic). I boarded the brand new MSC Seashore on January 22 for a 7-night Eastern Caribbean Itinerary that included stops in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and the well anticipated Ocean Cay Marine Reserve in the beautiful Bahamas. Booked in a Aurea Balcony room on the 14th floor.

I will try my best to do this review in some sort of sensical order and not jump all over the place.

Balcony Aurea

I had booked an Aurea Balcony on the 14th deck. First impressions of the room were good. The balcony was a good size. The colour choice was good. And some of the little features they added in were pretty smart.

When we arrived, the bed was still arranged in a single bed formation, even though during booking and check-in, a two bed formation was requested - and although it was an easy fixed that just required asking out room Stewart to change them - it would be nice to see them having already been in formation, but not a big deal.

The bathroom was very clean, and had everything we needed. However, the shower was a little small/oddly laid out. Yes, a lot of stateroom bathrooms are small no matter what ship you get on, unless in a suite, however this one was even a problem for myself, and I am only 5’2”. It took me a few showers to figure out how to move around without touching the faucet handle - which went extremely hot during showers. They did have a removable shower head which was nice, however if the stream of water was pointed any bit at the book, there was an area in which the water did manage to leak out. As well, with the layout of the sink and toilet, any one with longer legs may have a bit of an issue while trying to do business in there. However, there as multiple shelves for storage, along multiple towel racks and hooks.

One thing I did not like, was the positioning of the bed. I unlucky got a room where the bed was closer to the bathroom as opposed closer to the balcony door. And then with the beds separated into two, it caused the spacing to get into the closets to be extremely tight - especially if you had someone sleeping next to the closet and someone else trying to get in. Not all staterooms are laid out this way, and I don’t think the placement of the closet would be an issue when you have the couch located closer to it. Just the luck of the draw.

The room came with two “North American” outlets, two “European” outlets and three USB spots total. I do wish that they included a USB outlet next to each bed/side of bed, vs just the single USB outlet on one side. The full size mirror that was in the room was a nice touch, however, a little weird that it is at the foot of the bed, a little creepy even.

Overall however, I really enjoyed this stateroom - for the maybe an hour or two tops a day - other than sleeping - time that I spent in it.

*Our room Stewart Rhye (Ryan) and his team were awesome, to say the least. Ryan had introduced himself right away, and provided any and everything that wee needed - which was not a lot as the team did great at keeping everything stocked. Our room was cleaned twice a day, promptly and never forgotten. It seemed as if I could find Ryan very easily whenever any questions or concerns arrived, and it was also nice to just say hi every time we seen him. Him and his team worked super hard the entire cruise and I have nothing but praise for his friendly, kind caring personality.

Room layout: 7/10

Bathroom: 4/10

Balcony: 10/10

Bed: 8/10

Pillows: 10/10

Cleanliness: 10/10

Stewart and team: 10/10
