My wife and I booked our cruise last September on Harmony of the Seas basically for three reasons: 1) We wanted to cruise on a newer and larger RC ship, 2) the itinerary to St. Johns was originally included, and 3) the price was right for a balcony. We hoped the Covid mess would be long gone by January, 2022. We even Royal-upped our room by placing a bid on an upgraded ocean balcony which we really enjoyed. We noticed in early December that the itinerary had dropped St. John and added San Juan. No one from RC bothered to send a notice about that. Finally it was cruise time. Our Covid tests were negative, check-in was easy and fast, balcony ocean room was perfect, and then we learned that our itinerary had changed to drop San Juan and add St. Thomas which was fine with us. Our dining experiences in the Main Dining most nights and Chops Grille were very good. We actually like the way Windjammer Buffet is handled with attendants handling out food as opposed to “grazing” before. This process is much more sanitory and efficient than previous experiences! All crewmembers were very friendly and happy to see passengers coming back to the ship. Cons: First, We were extremely disappointed with most of the entertainment on this cruise. No “Grease” production show; no “Aqua Show” only a small “demonstration “ show which lasted about 20 minutes. We did see both Ice Skating shows which were good. Maureen Murlen was excellent as a singer for two headliner shows. The comedian headliner shows were WAY below average in our opinion. Cruise Director “Dan” was not very knowlegeable it appeared and shared very little information about itineraries and no explanations about cancelling of Grease or the Aqua Show. He appeared to be new to the ship.

Reservations were required for everything and not sure why since no event on this cruise we arrended was to capacity. Overall cruise was OK, and everyone was trying hard to be Covid safe, but frankly we like good entertainment and that did not happen on the Jan 16 cruise.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Balcony

Regular size ocean balcony with very nice bathroom with larger shower with glass door.

Port Reviews

Perfect Day at CocoCay

We opted for Coco Beach Club, however I would not do this again and just go to Chill Beach or South Beach and eat at complimentary food cafes that are available.

St. Maarten

Took water ferry $7 each round trip from pier to downtown. 10 minute ride. Enjoyed walking around city and along beach. Recommend the “Blue Bitch” restaurant and bar on beachfront for great view and food.
