This Cruise was chosen because of the extremely low price, including the fact that no substantial single supplements were levied on a solo cruiser booking a cabin. A middling drinks package and basic wifi was offered for a very reasonable upcharge, making this a true value cruise. This was my 7th Cruise and my first on MSC.

Itinerary: A 7 Day Cruise with two days at Ocean Cay (MSC Private Island), and one day each at Costa Maya, and Cozumel, plus 2 Sea Days.

Ship: The largest ship and newest ship I have sailed on to date. 19 Decks high with a capacity of 4,500 passangers, plus 1,700 crew. Embarkation happened 3 days after the CDC recommended "no cruise travel" and sailed with either 1,200 or 1,800 passengers, depending upon the crew member asked. Ship public spaces were beautiful, modern, and spotless. The ship featured a multistory interior promenade with an LED ceiling that looked like a large upscale boutique shopping mall. The Sky Lounge with an attached Cigar Lounge was beautiful up on the 19th deck. The indoor pool area was large and beautiful, as was the Lido Outdoor Pool Deck. The primary Waves Dining Room was nicely appointed, and decorated but was a single deck affair, so had the feel of a large, low ceilinged facility. This was probably the least impressive main ship Dining facility that I have seen, yet on the nicest overall ship that I have been on.

Cabin Review

Studio Interior

Inside Cabin on the 10th deck. It seemed modern, sleek, and a little larger than a Carnival Liberty class inside cabin. The TV screen could be a bit larger, but had a large selection of free movies in addition to the usual Cruise Ship channels, and safety videos. Cabin 10188 is located mid ships in a third interior hallway close to or above some sort of mechanical or utility space. In the bathroom was a constant hissing noise that was fairly loud, coming from this utility space. WIth the bathroom door closed it was faint, and of a white noise variety that was not offensive. The bed was comfortable, but not exceptional. Like a European hotel room, you had to put your Cruise Card in a wall slot to turn on the lights and AC. Do Not Disturb, and Service Room buttens were on the wall. Temperature control at lowest setting worked just good enough. Cabin Steward provided the best Cabin service I have seen in 7 cruises. He must have tidied it up 3 times per day and delivered paper daily schedules, etc. No towel animals provided, (which I prefer).
