we wanted to experience the west side of Mexico.
Long Beach. we flew from DAL as our flight from SHV was cancelled 24 hours prior to flight time. We will always fly Southwest again. The airport at LGB is so much easier than LAX and the port is actually in Long Beach even though they call it Los Angeles. We stayed downtown 2 nights as it was New Years eve.Great hotel close to the beach and we walked down the pier to Shennanigans Irish Pub for dinner and live music.
Uber to port and took covid tests at the port per NCL. 15 minutes later on the ship and eating a hamburger at Bistro. the ship looked brand new everywhere. 1705 passengers on a ship meant for 5000. We never had to wait for an elevator and there were no lines. CABO SAN LUCAS we tender in 20 min. Mall and restaurants at tender pier. we water taxi out to Lovers/Divorce beach at the arch $15pp rt. Spent two hours out there, the back to pier. Lots of folks out there. Sand was cool, red flag flying at Divorce beach due to undertow. Water was 70 degrees, cold at first but nice after in it for 5 min. No facilities here,so bring your water , beer etc. Puerta Vallarta we did Town, Country and Tequila tour for 60 pp i believe. Church, Jewelry, leather in town then on to the tequila factory. They locked the door and we all did 6 shots, after that we had tacos and Margaritas. My dtr purchased 6 bottles of tequila. Mazatlan our next stop we took free tram to taxi stand and $6 taxi to town to the church. Straw market there and restaurant across street but they had waiting line so we went back to the ship and ate at one of the many restaurants. Our last port was Ensenada, we took the $4 pp rt bus into town on 1st st, walked 6 blocks to Santo Tomas Winery. Wine tasting was $15 pp and we had 4 and not skimpy like they do in CA wineries. We purchased 4 bottles of wine and headed back towards 1st st. Hawaiian Pizza along the way and found a churrerio shop close to the bus stop. We got 6 of various flavors choc, ras, strw, mango etc and they were delicious with Coca Cola light. On the ship we had fresh eggs every morning at the omlet station, lunch at various places. Hardly ate at the same place twice. Ocean speacilty first night and the filet mignon was to die for. The girls did fish. Cagneys steak house had a similiar steak later in the week. We drank no beer, surprising. I had 2 or 3 bloody marys each day before breakfast. The coffee on board was great. I drank bourbon and sprite during the day and most nights we had wine but some we closed the mojito bar. My wife went regular, my dtr pineapple and i did mainly rasberry. The ship had a bottle of champagne and we drank that one night. We brought caviar, but were always so full we ended up bringing it home. We did the main pool , some hot tubs and the speedway (the most fun you can have with your clothes on), putt putt and a blast doing the trivia. our cd was DAN DAN and he kept the show moving. The Beatles were awesome, Jersey Boys not so much. The crew that did the trivia and games were friendly. The bartenders and barwaiters were at your bekon call. I carried a pocket full of $1 bills and tried to give everyone that served me 1 or 2. not much but in this hard time every little bit helps.
perfect temp all week, lots of room, shower big enough for 2 people and a dog, cabin steward Richard Antonin was awesome, hardly saw him but the bed always made up and the tissue with a point on it. i think he may have hidden uder our bed. i will try to post a photo
we water taxi to arc for 15pp rt, told taxi guy come back in 2 hours. reg rate is 25pp so bargain a little and give your boat taxi driver a tip on the way back. lovers beach was awesome, sand like st. martin orient beach. water cool but ok after in it for a few minutes. no facilities out there so bring some water or something to drink. sand was not hot, but this is Jan 2022
we wanted to do a wine tasting at the best winery in Mexico, Santo Tomas.
we took 4$ rt bus into town 1st st. walked 6 blocks to 6 st and spent an hour doing wine tasting 15 pp
walked back to ship pizza shop half way ate hawaiian pizza , then churreria shop at the bus stop and
ate 6 churrios, choc, rasberry, black berry, mango, pineapple. then back to ship
usually dont tour, but did town, country and tequila a 4 1/2 hr tour. Church was nice. jewelery store had free tequila, leather store had a cat sleeping, then off to tequila factory. tasted 6 shots the had margaritas and tacos before back to the ship. my daughter purchased $400 worth of tequila that is $8000 in pesos. very smoothe 100 per cent guava.
went into town in taxi $6. Immaculate Conception Cathedral very nice, shops there, restaurant across street but waiting list so we came back to port and shopped there. it was cheaper there than in town.
