Wanting to celebrate Christmas and New Year away from the doom laden 2021, our plans had to be changed due to the uncertainty of travel to the U.S. A lucky chance took us to this cruise which included the Canary Islands for Christmas and to the fabulous firework display in Madeira for New Year.

We have travelled with Fred only once before and found the whole experience comfortable and quintessentially English. The pre-boarding LFT was handled smoothly and we were boarded with little fuss and in our Balcony Suite within 25 minutes. We asked to be relocated due to a knocking from within the ceiling A.C. unit and this happened without fuss or argument. Each suite was well appointed and both room attendants couldn't have been more friendly and hard working.

The dining experience was wholly positive. The food in Colours and Tastes was exceptionally good, as was the service. Equally the food in Vasco. We ate in the MDR as well as Poolside and Ocean View and honestly could find any fault whatsoever. I was disappointed that the only de-caff coffee to be had in the MDR came in paper tubes. Surely when we pay as much as we did it is not unreasonable to expect a decent cup of coffee and not the instant rubbish you get in a transport-café?

Cabin Review

Our room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. Lucky to have a bath tub with jets and a really decent shower. We asked to be relocated due to a knocking from within the ceiling A.C. unit and this happened with no fuss or argument. Each suite was well appointed and both room attendants couldn't have been more friendly and hard working.
