We chose this cruise because we wanted to leave from New Orleans again. We did it several years ago and liked going down the River. New Orleans has not changed much, Bourbon Street is still trashy and smells worse than I remember. This was our 11th cruise and was not sure what to expect after Covid. Embarkation went pretty smooth, not much changed there, except for the mask thing. We went right to Lido deck for lunch, we heard that the crew serves you the food at the buffet now, but that was not not the case, again, nothing much changed other than the mask thing. Buffet offerings were typical. We checked in at our Muster station, and was able to go about our day. That is a huge improvement, it is much better than standing at your station, baking in the sun, waiting for that 1 couple to eventually get there, before they start the drill. Dinner and service in the MDR was great had no complaints there. The only food complaint we had, and this was the biggest change we noticed, was the late night food offerings. Everything closes at 11pm except for the pizza place and 1 line in the Lido buffet had about 4 or 5 items. They had these same items every night. The pizza line was extremely long on the second night, so we decided to go our room an get room service. That now has to be ordered on the Hub, we tried that only to get a message saying they were not doing online orders. As for the Hub, its something to get used to using, to see menus or daily activities. We went with some friends and spent the $5 to do the chat thing. That was a waste , it did not work half the time. I found out you can still get a printed Funtimes at the service desk. Cozumel and Costa Maya were nicer than we remembered, but it has been a while since we were there. A couple of the things we liked best on the ship were Marty, the cruise director. He is awesome at his job. and the Tio Rock band. they played in the Red Frog Pub 3 nights and we sat there for every one. They were great. Hey Carnival! Please keep those guys busy. We stayed in Balcony cabin 8258, our cabin steward was fantastic. I took his card when we left, but I lost it and cant remember his name. Disembarking went smooth, we did the self walk off. However, The walk to get to customs is the longest one we have every had on any of our cruises. We spent that night in New Orleans again, and went to Hard Rock Cafe on Bourbon Street for dinner. The nachos are worth the money. It was a great cruise and our first time cruiser friends are hooked. They were looking at booking another one on our drive back to Michigan. We are looking forward to the next 8 day on the Freedom out of Miami.
